Pig themed Kitchen

Crochetcrochet: Finished crochet projects  September 13, 2012 – 00:00

I have a friend who collects pigs, and has a pig-themed kitchen,so I've been planning on making her a little pig for a while now. Her birthday is next month,so I grabbed the free pig pattern off the Lion Brand Yarn website, pulled some yarn from the stash, and got to work.On Ravelry or nice pattern from Red Heart. She doesn't actually know that I'm making something for her,so it'll hopefully be a nice surprise.

On Ravelry or On Ravelry or chromium star blanket, the flower was in The Crochet Stitch Bible, and the puff was from a couple of different hyperbolic crochet tutorial sites.
this pattern.Someone at work saw my earbuds yesterday and asked if I could do that for her son's headphones!

No one uses cheese sets, they probably have 5 in the closet like everyone else.
You might have better luck going with a color theme, like
-jade and coral colored knives:
-with some jade/coral colored kitchen towels
-2 bottles of liquor (rose cream tequilla, maderi)
Get some wrapping paper that looks like jade, coral colored ribbon/bow.
Gives you a lot more options.

Here's two thoughts I have for you...

On it awhile...
You have marketing, design, cooking.
What if you pitched local upscale stores (kitchen stores, department stores, interior design stores), but I was thinking more like big dept. stores) to put on some theme-based demonstrations, using their goods (kitchen gadgets, pots/pans, food processors, etc.)in a matching designed arena, cooking theme-based foods. This way, you could market their goods (furniture, kitchen items, specialty packaged foods, design accessories). You could, for instance have them sponsor a "Country Comfort" night, featuring roast beef, potatoes, etc

Couple of things....

I do homemade Christmas cookies. I put nice tissue paper and doilies in tins. Then the cookies in XL paper muffin cups. After folding the flaps of the tissue paper, I put a couple of Bigelow individually wrapped tea bags. Sometimes some chocolate dipped spoons or rock sugar on a stick. This year I'm doing some dark/milk/white chocolate dipped pretzel rods with various decorations like sprinkles and zig zagging white chocolate on the dark, and dark on the white.
For goodie baskets I like to use a nice reusable box, basket or large tin and do a theme basket.

  • Avatar kerry c What are some good side dishes to serve at a pig roast?
    Jul 17, 2008 by kerry c | Posted in Cooking & Recipes

I am not having a luau themed BBQ just an old fashioned pig roast on a farm. Any suggestions? It has to be things that can be prepared beforehand as we won't have a kitchen to cook in at the roast. There will be about 100 people there.

    • An apple salad. I was going to suggest sauteed apples, but you're not going to be able cook on the spot.

But apples are a classic pairing with pork.

And I second the idea of sweet potatoes, because they also complement pork. You could wrap them in foil and cook them at the roast.

  • Avatar ACsCrazylittlepartygirl What are the best country music songs for a party?
Jan 27, 2009 by ACsCrazylittlepartygirl | Posted in Country

I'm having a "dirty south" themed party in a few weeks, and I'm trying to get together a killer playlist. The music should last for at least 4 hours, maybe 5, and should all be upbeat and easy to (line) dance to. Nothing too slow or sad. Can y'all help me? This might be the first real "hoe-down" a lot of the "yankees" up here have ever been to, and I'd like to make it a lot of fun! Thanks!

Im moving out on the 1st of august and i really want my kitchen to be farm animal themed.. ive looked all over the internet.. found some cow things and some rooster thing.. need help finding horse and pig things.. if anyone has any websites or stores in mind please let me know thank you :)

    • I did a quick internet search and didn't find much. Years ago, the white goose/geese motif was very popular, and then the pigs and cows were in, and more recently, roosters. I still see roosters, but none of the other far …t bet is probably thrift stores or resale shops. Goodwill in my town has a boatload of kitchen decor and all kinds of things. If I were you, that's where I would look. Etsy may have some farm items too. It's worth a look.

  • Avatar washrose1 Christmas gift ideas for boyfriend's mother?!?
    Dec 01, 2008 by washrose1 | Posted in Christmas

I am spending this Christmas with my boyfriend's family. His mother is about 42, and she is quite stylish and financially well off. I cannot think of an idea of something to get her; I looked on JJill.com and places like that, but did not really see anything; I am trying to find a great gift under $20, help!

    • You could get her some nice candles with a box of chocolates. Or go to Bath & Body Works and buy her a small set. If she has a theme in her house or a certain interest you could get her something of that sort... For example, my boyfriend's mom likes pigs, her kitchen is a pig theme, so I may be getting her something to pig-themed to add to the rest of her collection.

      Happy Holidays!
