Covet Garden - Great Home Decor Magazine

One of my favorite new online design magazines is Toronto-based ..

Covet Garden's object is to feature interesting spaces that have not

been styled by interior designers and whose spaces

reflect the passion and interests of the people that live there.

Each month, they feature an interesting home as well as sourcing

great pieces that will give your space personality and interest.

This home belongs to Michael who has lived here for over 18 years.

He started his career in the fashion world making clothes but is now a

chef for a catering company making food. And above all, he has

created a beautifully home.

Many of his collections come from flea markets and great antique

shops. Every piece has a story. That is what makes a home.

When Michael was in the fashion industry, he started collecting

dressmaking judies. As women change, so do the dressmaking forms

and factory managers were anxious to get rid of their old judies.

I love my home. The decor, the yard, the

Whole thing. Especially they "family" of it. I like to be in it, tidy it and enjoy it. I run and run and run all week so on the weekends I like to putz. I like to build a fire and roast hot dogs with my family for dinner. I like to hang out, taking time to clean spread out with time to catch some tv, computer or game time with the kids and DH. I like to look up from my magazine to see DH and the kids snuggled up on the sofa, reading or watching football.

Some ideas for you

I spent over a year looking at magazines, kitchen cabinet brochures and various websites and clipping things I liked. Visit a Home Expo and talk to a storefront kitchen remodeling store. If you like modern look at Metropolitan Home magazine also check out Elle Decor.
Some of my fav websites:
Good luck and have fun...take your time in choosing a contractor! It is worth every bit of aggrevation!

Just read article re: old floorings' popularity

I'm with your "contractor friend!" Unless those reddish, fir floors are seriously damaged, I'd leave 'em.
Not only are they warm and charming, but just read an article (NY Times? TOH Magazine? - can't recall) suggesting that old or re-claimed/salvaged wood used for flooring are "highly sought after now."
If you change anything (not suggesting you should), I'd urge you to consider replacing blonde oak w/ something more in keeping w/ your home's age.
Before deciding, why not check out some home decorations based around different flooring. Perhaps your decor, wall colors, etc

Mini-review: Oon  — RedEye Chicago
While Embeya is an elaborately designed shrine worthy of being profiled in a home decor magazine, Oon is restrained and almost minimalist. The walls are white and nearly everything else—the chairs, the floor, the tables—is black or near-black.

  • Avatar Toomoody Do you think the Apple Kitchen Decor theme is outdated? How about the Italian Theme?
May 10, 2009 by Toomoody | Posted in Decorating & Remodeling

I am moving and was thinking about getting rid of some things.
I have had this decor for a while but I still kinda like it. I like the theme ideas but I am not up to date as far as home decor.
What are some new kitchen theme ideas?

    • I wouldn't worry about who says what is outdated. Decorate your house with things that please you. You are the one that will look at it. And don't forget to chose colors that make you look good standing in the room too.

  • Avatar Jade What are some good ideas to "stage" a home that is for sale?
May 22, 2008 by Jade | Posted in Decorating & Remodeling

I am packing everything personal up,cleaning and organizing but I need some simple and elegant ideas to "stage" the home so that it is more appealing to buyers.

    • 1. Clean - it is the most important step. Make sure every nook and cranny of your home is spotless. This also includes cleaning out your garage if you have one.

      2. De-clutter - Not only should you remove ob …don't keep your dining table set for a party of 6 unless you are actually planning on using it that day but setting it for an open house sets the stage for how the potential buyer can entertain in the home.) Best of Luck.
