Laid-back Dining

Not every kitchen needs a formal dining table. Ample seating around a coffee table gives this space a comfortable vibe. Eliminate stress over spills by upholstering with stain-proof fabrics.

• Install acrylic panels over an arbor to prevent downpours from spoiling the fun while allowing plenty of light to flood in on sunny days.

• Paint new brick the same color as existing brick for a seamless look. Using one paint color helps when you can’t match new materials with old.

• Position your kitchen close to the house so you don’t have far to lug groceries and supplies. Or, equip the outdoor room with its own refrigerator, dishwasher, and storage space.

  • Avatar TheWhitePhoenix I'm looking for ideas to decorate my kitchen in a french bistro style nothing expensive. Any ideas?
Mar 28, 2006 by TheWhitePhoenix | Posted in Decorating & Remodeling

I live in an apartment so I can't do anything major. Some websites with ideas on decor would be great.

    • Nothin major,,, hmm. You might ask about tiling the floor, and do it in some form of terra cotta that would give the appearnce of an indoor/outdoor cafe.

A very simple, wrought iron,,,etc,,, ice cream parl …ous French bistro or multiples.

Book covers, playbill booklets, theater signs, etc. etc etc.

Shelves above eye level filled with STUFF that relates to your theme.

  • Avatar oldknowitall How can I decorate my back entrance to be more welcoming?
Jan 08, 2011 by oldknowitall | Posted in Decorating & Remodeling

People come to my house by way of the back door that enters into a dining room and kitchen. The back entrance is through my garage and no matter how hard I try to get people to use the front door, they insist on entering there. I am thinking of using that garage space for an outside living area. Got any good cheap ideas?

    • It is such a wonderful idea very ""tasteful"" :D and interesting!!! ha ha

I'm watching 2 kids. They are a six year old girl and an eight year old boy. I would like some ideas of fun, easy, and cheap activities I could do with them this summer. Please leave tons of ideas if you can!! Oh and I'm only 15, so that rules out the driving:) Thank you!

    • Scavenger Hunts are fantastic, and if done well can take up the entire day. Leave them clues and puzzles as well as challenges. A fun variation is to walk around the neighbourhood and make a 'treasure' hunt with that. Hav …/>
